Area Medical Director Position - Clinical Leadership Role in Palo Alto
Midtown Veterinary Hospital in Palo Alto, CA is seeking an experienced veterinarian for our Area Medical Director position. This role combines hands-on clinical practice with primary leadership responsibilities, with the director based at Midtown Veterinary Hospital approximately 3 days per week providing direct clinical care and 1 day a week at a sister hospital. As the Medical Director for Midtown, you'll establish clinical standards while also supporting our broader network.
About The Role at Midtown Veterinary Hospital:
- Primary Medical Leadership: Serve as the Medical Director for Midtown Veterinary Hospital while maintaining active clinical practice
- Balanced Clinical and Leadership Duties: Provide direct patient care approximately 3 days per week
- Clinical Excellence Driver: Establish and maintain medical standards at Midtown while helping coordinate best practices across network locations
- Team-Building Focus: Lead the Midtown clinical team while fostering communication with other hospital locations
- Medical Program Development: Develop and refine medical protocols that align with our quality standards
- Growth and Development: Support the expansion of our hospital network while maintaining excellence at Midtown

Core Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Medical Director for Midtown Veterinary Hospital
- Maintain clinical practice at Midtown approximately 3 days per week
- Establish and maintain clinical quality standards at Midtown
- Coordinate with other hospital locations to share best practices
- Lead recruitment and development of Associate DVMs at Midtown
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and resource optimization across the network
- Drive clinical excellence through quality improvement initiatives
- Provide direct mentorship and guidance to Midtown clinical team members
- Work with regional leadership on strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
Ideal Candidate:
- Licensed veterinarian in California with 5+ years of clinical experience
- Previous Medical Director or leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent clinical capabilities and patient care standards
- Ability to balance hands-on practice with administrative responsibilities
- Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach
- Willingness to travel between hospital locations as needed
